Subify, a groundbreaking fintech startup revolutionizing how Africans access and monetize digital subscriptions, today announced its soft launch at Tech Revolution Africa 2.0, the continent’s premier tech conference held at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos. What began as a humble WhatsApp group in late 2021—friends and colleagues banding together to share subscriptions and snag subsidized discounts on premium products has evolved into a full-fledged brand by late 2025. Subify now addresses the growing challenge of subscription affordability amid rising costs for services like Netflix, Spotify, iCloud, Canva, CapCut, and professional software tools, enabling users to split expenses securely while earning income from underutilised subscriptions.

The journey started informally when a small group in Lagos, frustrated by the high costs of individual subscriptions, created a WhatsApp chat to pool resources for shared access to streaming services like Netflix. “It was all about making ends meet,” recalls Israel Oladipupo Ogunseye, Co-Founder and CEO of Subify. “We’d coordinate payments, track usage, and split bills manually, saving money on entertainment that otherwise felt out of reach.”

As word spread, the group expanded its scope, incorporating design tools like Canva and video editing apps like CapCut, helping freelancers and students access professional-grade software at a fraction of the cost. By mid-2023, the community had grown to hundreds, managing shares across multiple platforms, but the manual process revealed pain points: trust issues, payment disputes, and scalability limits.
Recognizing the potential for a tech-driven solution, Ogunseye Israel teamed up with his sister, Ogunseye Elizabeth, and tech expert David Akinmoyede in mid-2025 to formalize the concept into Subify. Leveraging AI-powered matching algorithms, the platform connects verified users with trusted co-subscribers, facilitating seamless cost-sharing and secure payments. This not only democratizes access to entertainment, productivity software, and cloud services but also creates new revenue streams for subscribers who can “rent out” unused slots in their plans. With a focus on trust and convenience, Subify incorporates robust verification processes and encrypted transactions to ensure a safe ecosystem tailored to African markets.
One early user story highlights the impact: A graphic designer in Abuja joined the original WhatsApp group to share a Canva Pro subscription, cutting her monthly costs by 75% and allowing her to take on more clients. “It changed my business,” she shared.
“From scraping by to thriving Subify turned that group hack into a reliable tool.”
Another tale comes from a Nairobi-based family who split Netflix and Spotify accounts, fostering family bonding over shared content while saving hundreds annually. These grassroots beginnings underscore Subify’s mission: turning everyday financial hacks into empowered communities.
“Subify started as a simple idea in that WhatsApp group: why pay full price when you can share and save – or even earn?” said David Akinmoyede.
“In a region where economic pressures make premium digital access a luxury, we’re building a community-driven solution that turns subscriptions into smart financial opportunities. Our presence at Tech Revolution Africa marks a pivotal moment, allowing us to connect with innovators and showcase how fintech can drive inclusive growth.”
The soft launch coincides with Subify’s exhibition at Tech Revolution Africa 2.0, Africa’s largest gathering of tech leaders, startups, investors, and enthusiasts, taking place January 30-31, 2026. Organized by TekNexus Africa and House of Heroz, and co-founded by Glory Olamigoke and David Ogebe, the event brings together over 5,000 participants to explore technological advancements shaping the continent.
Subify’s booth has already drawn crowds, with live demos highlighting features like real-time matching, automated billing splits, and income tracking. Attendees are encouraged to stop by for exclusive sign-up offers and insights into the platform’s roadmap, including expansions into more subscription categories and cross-border partnerships.
Ogunseye Elizabeth, Co-Founder and CMO, emphasized the platform’s user-centric design: “We’ve seen real stories from users in Lagos and beyond – professionals splitting Adobe suites or families sharing streaming accounts without the hassle. Subify isn’t just about savings; it’s about building trust in a shared economy.

Launching here at Tech Revolution Africa amplifies our message to the very ecosystem we’re serving.”Rounding out the leadership team is David Akinmoyede, Co-Founder and CTO, whose expertise in machine learning and scalable systems has been instrumental in developing Subify’s AI backbone. “Our technology ensures matches are not only efficient but secure, using advanced algorithms to minimize risks and maximize value,” Akinmoyede noted.

The team’s combined experience spans fintech giants like PalmPay, Reliance Health, Boomplay Music, Insight publics and more, positioning Subify as a leader in Africa’s subscription economy.
