Launchpad Africa Cohort 2 – Final Demo Day | August 29, 2026

There is a particular kind of quiet that settles over a builder when they realise they’ve actually done it.

Not the noise of a hackathon. Not the sugar rush of a pitch competition. The quiet of someone who sat down, identified a real problem, built something around it, put it in front of real users, listened to what those users said and kept going anyway.

That’s what Launchpad Africa Cohort 2 has been for the last 12 weeks.

And on August 29, 2026, you’re invited to see the result.

What Launchpad Africa Is – And What It Isn’t

Launchpad Africa is not a bootcamp. It’s not a hackathon. It’s not a two-day sprint where someone wins a certificate and a handshake.

It is a 12-week structured product programme designed to do one thing: take African tech talent product marketers, product managers, designers, engineers, researchers, data analysts and force them to build something real.

Real problem. Real solution. Real users. Real evidence.

The programme runs in three phases:

Build Sprint (Weeks 1–4): Teams identify a genuine problem, define their solution, scope what they can actually ship, and build a working first draft. No fluff. No vague ideas. A real product or the bones of one.

Validation (Weeks 5–8): Teams take their product into the real world. Real users. Real companies. Real feedback. They document every interaction, log every signal, and iterate based on what they learn not what they assumed.

Deployment (Weeks 9–12): Teams refine, polish, and prepare to go live. This isn’t about having a pretty slide deck. It’s about having something that works and proving it.

12 Weeks of Real Building

Cohort 2 started on May 23, 2026 with an orientation that set the tone immediately.

There were no easy weeks.

Week 1 asked teams to answer the hardest question in product: Is this actually a problem worth solving? Teams submitted their build plans. Some teams lost members. Others struggled to coordinate across schedules, cities, and timezones. A few fell behind early.

But the ones who stayed stayed for real.

Week 2 brought Abimbola Oluwabusayomi Bajomo Product Lead at Credit Direct Limited who walked teams through the discipline of scoping: what it really means to define a solution clearly enough that you can actually build it. Her message landed like a quiet warning:

Clarity is a deliverable, not an afterthought.

By Demo Day 1 on June 14, 7 teams presented working first drafts to a virtual room of over 40 people. The products on screen were not ideas. They were early but real healthtech, fintech, field operations tools, and marketing automation African teams solving African problems with technology.

Mentors gave live feedback. Teams went back and refined.

The Validation Phase pushed teams further. They reached out to real users. They logged evidence. They discovered things their assumptions had hidden. Some pivoted. Some doubled down. All of them learned something that no classroom could have taught them.

The Mentors Who Made It Real

No programme is better than the people willing to pour into it.

Launchpad Africa Cohort 2 was shaped by mentors who didn’t just show up to talk they showed up to challenge. To push teams past the comfortable version of their ideas into something sharper, more honest, and more buildable.

Now we are in the final week.

Teams are completing validation, polishing their products, and preparing to present on the biggest stage of the programme.

What You’ll See on August 29

Final Demo Day is not a pitch competition. There are no slide decks pretending to be products. What you will see on August 29 are working, validated solutions built by African product teams who earned their place on that stage.

You will see:

Products that solve real African problems across fintech, healthtech, logistics, field operations, and more.

Validation evidence these teams have tested their products with real users and real companies. They’re not coming to tell you something might work. They’re coming to show you that it does.

Cross-functional African talent every team that makes it to August 29 is a product team: PM, designer, engineer, researcher, data analyst. The kind of talent that African companies need and often struggle to find working together.

A $1,000 prize pool split across the top 3 teams as judged by a panel of senior voices from across the African tech and fintech ecosystem.

Why This Matters Beyond August 29

African tech doesn’t have a talent problem. It has a proof problem.

There are thousands of brilliant people across the continent who can build but who have never had a structured environment to do it in. Who have never been pushed through the full cycle of problem identification, solution design, user validation, and deployment in a single sprint.

Launchpad Africa exists to change that.

Cohort 2 is proof that when you give African talent the right structure, the right mentorship, and the right pressure they build things worth watching.

What happens after August 29 matters too. These teams will keep building. Some of these products will find users. Some will find funding. Some will become companies.

The ones in the room on August 29 will have a front row seat to all of it.
