Welcome to a New Dispensation!

Africa’s fintech ecosystem is booming. Every day, builders across the continent are creating solutions that are reshaping how money moves. Yet, for all the progress, one thing has remained scattered: knowledge.

To address this gap, Builders in Fintech has launched the African Fintech Library (AFL) — a publication dedicated to practical fintech knowledge across the continent.

What is the African Fintech Library?

The African Fintech Library is a publication for practical fintech knowledge. Its premise is simple:  African fintech should be documented by the people actively building it, and BIF has now brought to life the industry’s long-needed central publication.

The long-term vision is simple yet ambitious: One archive. 10,000 practical insights. All of Africa.

With AFL, an operator in Nigeria can learn how money moves in Senegal. A founder in Kenya should be able to learn from a compliance mistake in Ghana. That accessible, practical knowledge getting to everyone through industry experts is BIF’s vision for the African Fintech Library.

About Builders in Fintech (BIF)

The African Fintech Library is an initiative of Builders in Fintech(BIF), a pan-African community and knowledge platform for professionals building financial products across the continent.

Co-founded by Bethy Bada and Elizabeth Ajao, BIF convenes founders, engineers, product managers, operators, and ecosystem stakeholders to share practical insights on how fintech is built in Africa. Through curated sessions, masterclasses, partnerships, and structured knowledge initiatives such as AFL and BIF, BIF focuses on making industry knowledge more accessible, contextual, and operator-driven.

Why this Matters

Africa’s fintech ecosystem is moving fast, and with a projection to be 5x more by 2028. This means the best builders will be those who prioritize knowledge and can stay at the forefront of innovation.

The Library’s goal is to level the playing field and make fintech knowledge accessible to everyone looking to build faster and better.

At the heart of AFL is a simple idea: knowledge can power innovation. Every article is authored by real fintech practitioners with hands-on experience building across payments, regulation, cross-border systems, credit, risk, infrastructure and more

Think of AFL as your go-to reference whenever you want to:

  • Get expert knowledge (backed by strong experience and thorough research)
  • Learn fintech in the African context
  • Understand how fintech companies navigate regulation, governance, and more

Contribute to Africa’s Fintech Future

If you have practical fintech knowledge, you can share your story with the Library. Here’s how it works:

  1. Write a publication-ready guide to a fintech topic you know both in theory and in practice, using your personal experience to illustrate your points.
  2. Submit your article
  3. Your article is reviewed by the Builders in Fintech editorial team (review takes 2–4 weeks)
  4. Your article goes live and becomes part of the Library, contributing to the continent’s knowledge
